Our Story
2014/ March
The idea of a platform or association for women in the Construction Industry was initiated by a group of 10 women involved in the construction industry who called themselves the "Passionate 10+1".
2014/April
A courtesy visit was made to the Malaysian Deputy Minister of Works, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and a working paper proposal was forwarded regarding the issues of women in construction.
2014/September
The inaugural Konvensyen Usahawanita BInaan (KUBINA), the brainchild of the Malaysia deputy Minister of Works was held organised by the construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) under the chairmanship of Sr. Sariah Abdul Karib. One of the resolutions was to form an association for women in the construction industry.
2015/January
The group was approached by CIDB to form such association. WIBM was officially registered on the 30th of January 2015with the registrar of Societies Malaysia. WIBM is a non-profit organisation within Malaysia and run by elected committee members.
2015/March
The first Annual General Meeting was held on the 12th of March 2015.
2016/May
The second Annual General Meeting was held on the 7th of May 2016.
